Building services engineering, technical building services, architectural engineering, building engineering, or facilities and services planning engineering refers to the implementation of the engineering for the internal environment and environmental impact of a building. Building services engineers are responsible for the design, installation, operation and monitoring of the mechanical, electrical and public health systems required for the safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly operation of modern buildings. The term building services engineering is widely used in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and Australia, but in the United States of America, the field is also known as architectural engineering or building engineering, though these terms can also have other meanings, even in the United States. In India the engineers are known as facilities planners. A building services architect is an engineer with experience in the integration of building services.

This is the initial introductory video for the Green and Handcrafted Building showroom in Whitefish, Montana. The showroom features the works of local craftspeople. Woodworkers include Mark King, Craig Donegan, Todd Swan, and Carl Ambrose. The Tulikivi fireplace is the work of Warmstone Fireplaces and Designs in Livingston, Montana. Viking Studios and Interior Outfitting created the wall surfaces and window treatments. The flooring is marmoleum, cork, bamboo, pre-finished maple, and a creative finished plywood with the Land Ark natural wood finish oil as protection and preservative.

Now, not that we don’t love IFTTT but imagine a world (cough…n.io) where several APIs are connected on a single platform without the time consuming hassle of writing any code whatsoever. In this video, we let you in on a tiny portion of building services on n.io in the cloud by connecting two of our favorite APIs, Mojio and Twilio. Defining and implementing our own customizable triggers, we are able to determine the exact location of our demo vehicles simply by using the n.io software and GPS data. That’s right. Here at n.io there is no such thing as each vehicle having its own IFTTT recipe, we are able to watch every aspect of unlimited context from unlimited “things” and APIs in real-time.
